A panel discussion exploring how the internalised trauma might still be influencing the choices we make today
The German-Jewish past holds a special place in the heritage of Belsize Square Synagogue. In celebration of the publication of The future of the German-Jewish Past, edited by Gideon Reuveni, this evening’s panel will expore teh enduring impact of this shared history and examine how it contiues to shape our identity and influence our future. The panel will examine how individuals and communities have confronted the emotions triggered by an inheritance of displacement and loss:
- Gideon Reuveni, Director of the Weidenfeld Institute of Jewish Studies/Centre for German-Jewish Studies at the University of Sussex
- Diana Franklin, manager of the Institute
- Chaired by Thomas Harding, renowned author of award-winning books including The House by the Lake, Hanns and Rudolf and The Maverick
