Annual Israel Fundraising Dinner

  This year our Annual Yom Haatzmaut Israel Dinner will be replaced by an online event. Whilst we won’t be able to sit together, the evening has been designed to make us feel together in support of three wonderful, humanitarian Israeli charities. Sadly our usual Israel dinner cannot take place, but in honour of Yom HaAtzmaut Cantor Paul Heller and our youth choir have recorded Avinu Shebashamayim, the prayer for the State of Israel, from lockdown. Guest speaker Christy Anastas was born and grew up in Bethlehem in the Palestinian territories. Born at the end of the first intifada, during her teenage years Christy’s family lived in a war zone because of the location of their house, in front of Rachel’s tomb. At the age of 16 her life and the lives of her family were dramatically altered when the wall separating Jerusalem and Bethlehem was erected directly in front of their house. The story of the Anastas family…
